biography

Abi Ola (°1996, London, UK) is a visual artist living and working in London. Abi explores her identity as a British citizen with West African origins throughout multiple disciplines. She graduated from Goldsmiths University of Londen with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and completed her Master’s at the Slade School of Fine Art in 2021. Ola specializes in painting, drawing, screen printing, collaging, batik, and textiles. She examines shapes and patterns in her various forms of inspirations, and translates them into her own pattern designs. We not only find influences from William Morris’s wallpaper designs, but also from Nigerian traditional attires worn by her father, and the beloved floral patterns of her mother’s wardrobe. By bringing all of her influences together, she envelops herself and the viewer in her own world of patterns.
